A System ID/Product ID is a unique number that identifies your computer. The method that you use to get this number depends on your operating system. Please look at the section below that corresponds to your operating system for information on how to get your system identifier.
The best way to get your product ID is to download one of the Spectrum Research products, run the product, and note the hexadecimal ID that is printed in the dialog box that is displayed.
If you are unable to get the ID that way, you may also give us your windows product ID. To do this, click the right mouse button on the "My Computer" icon that is located on the Desktop. Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu that appears. Your Product ID is listed at the bottom of the "Registered To:" section. Remember to include the hyphens (-), if any.
From a UNIX shell prompt, type 'sysinfo'. This program is usually located in the /etc directory, so you may need to type the full path (e.g. '/etc/sysinfo'). Your System ID is the first 8 hexadecimal digits (4 pairs of numbers).
From a UNIX shell prompt, type 'hostid'. This program is usually located in the '/usr/bin' directory, so type the full path ('/usr/bin/hostid') if the program isn't located in the search path. Your System ID is the hexadecimal number that is printed.
